At ShapeTapes.com our goal is to promote an independent spirit regarding making and recording music. We hope to do this by bringing together like-minded amateurs and pros alike via our forums and by bringing the latest industry news, helpful articles and other relevant information on our blog. We also offer a full range of audio production services including mixing and mastering. Feel free to contact us if there’s something you think we can do for you!

Meet the staff:

ShapeTapes Productions is a Dallas-based company currently comprised of two songwriters/musicians/producers, Paul Blanchard and Rick Fontaine. We have a combined experience of over 30 years as professional musicians and recording enthusiasts and have played in bands and recorded as a duo since the early 90′s.

Rick has worked as a sound engineer in both a studio environment and in live sound, working with a number of reknowned acts. He has written and recorded dozens of his own songs, just recently releasing his first proper album of new material entitled “Electric Fences”, with another one already in the works.

Paul, the son of 70′s country artist Saratoga Red, is a gifted multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter in his own right. His bass playing in particular conjures up comparisons with Paul McCartney and Geddy Lee in it’s melodicism and “in the pocket” groove. Paul recently self-produced his fifth full-length project of original music, “Many Faces”.

Throughout the years, we’ve made music on our own terms and we feel that today we can offer up some of our experience and advice to other enthusiasts, in hopes they can realize the full potential of their own music.
